A team of infection preventionists from South Korea visited the NC Statewide Program for Infection Control and Epidemiology in December. Our special guests, who have founded the Infection Control Consultation Outreach Network in South Korea, were interested in learning about the SPICE program – and the HAI prevention partnerships between governments, universities, and health care systems – in order to further implement their program in South Korea. The visitors from South Korea were led by Hyunsook Koo, RN, MPH, ICP (second from left in homepage photo), Senior Research Officer of Korea CDC. In addition to visiting SPICE, the group visited DICON, and DICON consulting hospital, UNC Rex Health Care. They also met with representatives of the NC Division of Public Health, Communicable Diseases Branch, SHAARPS Program. Completing the South Korean team were: Kim Sung Ran, RN, ICP (far left in homepage photo), Joong Sik Eom, MD, PhD (second from right), Jacob Lee, MD, PhD (far right).
