Infection prevention education for all nursing home staff is key to stopping the spread of serious illness. These free, engaging educational modules will help all nursing home staff learn how to protect their residents (and themselves) from the spread of disease. Each module is about 30-45 minutes in length, and is designed to instruct AND engage. To get started click here. Module topics are: 1)  Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria, 2) Isolation Precautions, 3) Injection Safety,  4) Environmental Disinfection, 5) Urinary Tract Infections, and 6) Clostridium difficile.

Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria, Isolation Precautions, Urinary Tract Infections, and Clostridium difficile are the topics of Modules 1, 2, 5, and 6 which feature “Gowns and Gloves,” a tongue-in-cheek soap opera series that highlights the module topics. Join nurses Vanessa and Priscilla as they guide the Houstons through an infection prevention odyssey at their nursing home facility, while the Houstons throw in a few challenges of their own on Gowns and Gloves.

Enhanced Education of Infection Prevention in Nursing Homes continues with Module 3: Injection Safety and Safe Diabetes Care. Join judges Stephan, Minerva, and Jeanne as they determine who will win “The Technique” and receive the coveted McKnight Trophy, honoring injection safety activist Evelyn McKnight. Learn The Technique for best practices in injection safety and safe diabetes care.

In Module 4, Charlie is making the rounds at Sunnyside Nursing Home to educate staff about correct cleaning for environmental disinfection. Join Charlie as he shares his tips for achieving the ultimate clean! Know the Three “P’s”: Product, Practice, Perfection.
