We are looking at the recommendations and evaluating how to implement. Having an outside view is always helpful. In completing the assessment, it highlighted areas that needed improvement and helped us to formulate a plan. The site visit provided some excellent brainstorming to help us achieve a better IC program.
The nurse consultant was awesome and so informative. Looking forward to working with her in the future. We will be including the finding from her report in our next Process Improvement and addressing each of her recommendations.

It really helped us focus on tracking and educating on infections we could prevent, instead of tracking general infections. Heather was able to clarify the CMS rulings such as hand sanitizers. It was wonderful to have a “new set of eyes” to review our setting and discuss changes.
Audit tools were helpful. Center has implemented several suggestions and appreciated their rational for prevention of infections.

The assessment tool and visit made us aware of some opportunities related to placement of hand hygiene dispensers and the use of impervious gowns in hemodialysis. The ICAR nurses were quite knowledgeable and offered great suggestions for improving our processes for patient safety.
