Approved Provider Instructions for Infection Control Curriculum for Hemodialysis Settings

NC Infection Control Curriculum for Hemodialysis Healthcare Settings

To meet the requirements of 10A North Carolina Administrative Code 41A.0206, SPICE must approve all providers of this curriculum.

To approved providers of the curriculum: REQUIREMENTS HAVE CHANGED

Approved provider status can be rescinded if the curriculum is not taught according to these requirements.

Thank you for being an approved provider for the course, NC Infection Control Curriculum for Hemodialysis Settings. Our goal is for every dialysis healthcare facility to have a staff member who has had this training. You are helping SPICE to achieve that goal. It is critical that we are able to track where, when, to whom and by whom this training is provided. The 2019 revision of the course curriculum (which includes the 2021 dialysis module G) is an excellent opportunity to roll out a new process for our approved providers that effectively tracks the courses being provided.

  1. SPICE must approve all providers of this curriculum. THE APPROVED PROVIDER ID NUMBER IS FOR ONE INDIVIDUAL ONLY. EVERY PERSON WHO PARTICIPATES IN INSTRUCTION MUST BE APPROVED BY SPICE. Approved Provider Application. SPICE must have current contact information on file.
  2. Approved providers must follow these steps to successfully provide a course:

♦ REGISTER: Register your course with SPICE at least one week before the course. When you register your course, you will receive an email that you should retain with links to:

◊ Approved provider course materials page

◊ Attendees’ course materials page

◊ Template email with evaluation / certificate link that you will email to the attendees who have completed your course.

OPTIONAL: If you do not have an electronic method for registering your attendees, and you would like to have one, consider utilizing free Eventbrite registration for your course. Follow these simple instructions to set up your Eventbrite site.

♦ Have attendees sign in on a course roster (provided by instructor).

♦ Provide the course as planned. Course attendees must receive handouts of the complete slide sets along with four additional handouts. The provider can elect to provide hard copy handouts, or at least one week before the course refer learners to the resource webpage where they can access and print the slides and handouts. The link to this page is: https://spice.unc.edu/dialysis-handouts

♦ After the course, copy, paste and send the template email (see #2 beneath first bullet) to attendees who completed the course

♦ Within 7 days, complete the course notification form including upload of attendee sign in sheet.

♦ Note that approved providers do not issue course completion certificates! See #2 above, 4th bullet. When the attendee completes the electronic evaluation, she/he will be automatically redirected to the certificate.

♦ Free continuing education credit (CNE contact hours=5.25) is available for this course, and appears on the course completion certificate. The disclosure statement is located at the beginning of Module A.
